Age-Old Water Well Drillers
Hydrofutures is built on industry experience gained from Layne Water Resources. Hydro Futures
Layne was one of the most influential water well companies in the 20th century. Layne was founded in 1882 by Mahlon Layne in South Dakota. He pioneered the reverse circulation drilling technique as well as a screened well construction to filter out sand and gravel from infiltrating the wellbore.
One of Layne’s earliest projects was drilling wells for the city of Memphis, Tennessee. The city’s water supply was the highly polluted Mississippi River and Layne’s wells tapped into the Memphis Sand Aquifer. The groundwater project put Layne on the map especially for municipal projects.
If you sift through Texas water well data, you will find Layne Texas, Layne Bowler, and Layne Western well logs for cities across Texas drilled throughout the 20th century. Public water supply wells were drilled for Amarillo, College Station, El Paso, Fredericksburg, Georgetown, Houston, Midland, San Antonio, Tyler, and so many others.
Layne’s water ingenuity enabled Texas’ growth and commercial prosperity. Urban development and water accessibility are inextricably linked.
Hydrofutures is the future of water well innovation, inspired by the pioneers who came before them.
